The Honda Civic Hybrid - A Great Alternative to the Toyota Prius!
by Safiur Rahman

If you are in the market for a compact hybrid vehicle that offers the same comfort and reliability of a conventional sedan, you’ll want to consider the Honda Civic Hybrid. The Toyota Prius has become synonymous with hybrid cars and is unquestionably a good car, but its unique and perhaps quirky exterior is not everyone’s cup of tea. The Honda Insight is probably the most affordable hybrid car available but it has been criticized as being too small and lacking in features. The Honda Civic Hybrid, however, is stylish, affordable, fuel efficient, and comes loaded with many great features. In fact, this car ranks #3 out of 35 on US News and World Report’s list of affordable small cars. It is currently the most affordable hybrid in Canada and Energuide rated it as the most fuel efficient compact car in 2009.So what are some of the Civic Hybrid’s key features? The 2009 and 2010 editions come with a 4 cylinder 1.3L 110 Horsepower engine, 123 lb-ft of Torque, continuously variable transmission, cruise control, anti-lock brakes, power windows, power locks, and power steering. Front, passenger-side, and side curtain airbags, side-impact door beams, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, and automated climate control also come standard. You also have the option of having heated and/or leather seating and installing Honda’s Satellite Linked Navigation System with Bluetooth connectivity. If that’s not enough to get you excited, this sweet ride has a very decent fuel efficiency of 40 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway. If you already drive a regular Honda Civic and are comfortable with it, the transition to the hybrid version makes even more sense because the two look almost identical. The Civic Hybrid just needs to make room for a battery pack and gets better mileage.

There are many great choices available when it comes to buying a hybrid car but the Civic Hybrid is definitely worth a closer look. If you are serious about buying a hybrid, be sure you visit your closest Honda dealer and test drive the new Honda Civic Hybrid!

Finding the Right Franchise : new cars honda 2010

Finding the Right Franchise
by William Doyle

There are over 2,500 different franchises for sale right now. Trying to choose the right one might seem like an impossible task. If you are a first time franchise purchaser, where should you begin? The answer is not easy; every franchise is unique and there are hundreds of characteristics to review. That said, certain characteristics keep popping up when we examine the best franchises. Here are SmarterFranchises three keys to a great franchise:

1. Multi-unit Ownership The proof is in the pudding. The best indication that a franchisee is happy with his business is if he spends more money to purchase another unit or an additional territory. The logic is the same as why Honda has such a strong reputation in the car market. If your uncle Jeff has bought three Accords in a row, Honda must be doing something right.

For the most part, multi-unit owners start with one store which becomes so successful that the want a second and so on. In order to finance a second store, a lender will examine the first store’s cash flow. If a franchise wasn’t financially viable, it would be nearly impossible to open additional units.

Multi-unit ownership is also an indication of operational efficiency in a concept. With some franchises, there is so much work that is impossible for the franchise owner to focus on anything but day to day operations. The book, “The E Myth” talks extensively about this trap of getting stuck “working in your business” vs. “working on your business.” Even if you never plan to open multiple units, this is an important characteristic, because more likely than not, you would eventually like to retire or at least take a vacation one day.

Be wary of franchise owners who explain low multi-unit ownership by suggesting franchisees make enough money with just one unit. If there is one thing history has shown, people rarely decide they have “enough” money.

2. Proven Franchisor Track Record There are three items to think about when examining the franchisor’s track record. The first is an understanding of how much risk there is that the franchisor might go out of business. Unfortunately, many of the 2,500 franchise concepts available just won’t make it as sustainable businesses. If you purchase one of these concepts, you may lose much of your investment.

Second, the franchisor’s track record should give you an indication about the quality of the concept. Did the franchisor own several successful stores for many years before deciding to franchise his concept or did he just decide one day that there was good money in franchising so he better come up with a concept.

Third, franchisors with longer track records have more established training and support programs. While you might save a few thousand dollars buy getting into a franchise early, chances are you won’t get much for your investment. New franchisees haven’t had the time to put together development support or training programs or marketing campaigns. Also, if you are one of the first buyers, you are the guinea pig which often means more risk. Maybe a new food concept works great in a mall food court or maybe it doesn’t? Wouldn’t be nice if you weren’t the one who had to run the experiment?

3. Strong, independent franchisee association Unfortunately, the unspoken reality is that the franchisor’s and franchisee’s interests aren’t always aligned. Eventually, there will be disagreements over finances, marketing programs or development issues. Knowing that issues are sure to arise, it is helpful to know that you will have an organized group of franchisees who can relate to your situation. Independent associations have many benefits. In addition to creating leverage for the purpose of negotiating with the franchisor, an association also can improve communication among franchisees. Independent associations also allow members to pool resources to hire competent professionals such as lawyers or financial advisors or marketing consultants. Finally, like with any organization, a collective, institutional memory is created. The AFA has an excellent article on associations on its site

It is also a negative sign if the franchisor goes out of its way to discourage an association. It usually means that the franchisor does not have the franchisees best interests in mind and is afraid of having to deal fairly with franchisees.

In addition to independent associations, franchisees may also develop a co-op to purchase goods at a discount or control a portion of the system’s advertising budget or develop a lobby group for a specific issue. All of these our good signs.

2010 Honda Accord Crosstour First Drive - A Premium CUV : new accord 2010

2010 Honda Accord Crosstour First Drive - A Premium CUV
by Gary Witzenburg

Beyond some level of utility and practicality, not much positive comes to mind about vehicle model classifications such as SUV, minivan, and station wagon. That’s why automakers seldom use those designations even when they probably should - except when they have no choice (a minivan is a minivan, after all) - and have purged a lot of such out-of-favor vehicle types from their lineups.Honda’s new-for-2010 Accord-based crossover, unabashedly named Accord Crosstour. It is essentially an Accord wagon, except its rear roofline is aerodynamically sloped instead of squared off, which sacrifices some cargo room but preserves respectable backseat headroom even for six-footers. But please don’t call it that.

Is such a half-breed a car, or is it a truck? While some crossovers, especially the larger ones with three rows of seats, are more SUV-like, this one appears closer to a car. As far as government classification goes, the signals are mixed: for emissions and fuel economy testing, the EPA sees it as a passenger car. For safety certification, NHTSA calls it a truck.

Honda calls it a “five-door, five-passenger premium CUV” and offers it in two models: a well-equipped EX (just over $30,000, including destination) and an upscale EX-L (about $33K). “Real-time” four-wheel drive adds $1,450 and voice-activated navigation with a rear-view camera, another $2,200, but both are available on the EX-L only.

Standard on the EX are dual-zone automatic air conditioning; 360-watt, 7-speaker audio with a 6-disc CD player; easy fold-down 60/40 split rear seats; 225/65 R17 all-season tires on alloy wheels; a power moonroof; steering-wheel audio controls; auto-off projector beam headlights; fog lights; rear privacy glass; and a hidden removable utility box.

The EX-L adds leather-trimmed seats (heated in front), steering wheel and shift knob; memory mirrors and driver-side seat; 225/60 R18 all-season tires; auto-on/off headlights; a cargo privacy cover; a HomeLink transmitter; premium speakers and a USB audio interface.

How much of this Crosstour is Accord under its skin? Honda says roughly 60 percent of its parts are shared with the sedan, including the chassis and powertrain, the instrument panel and most of the interior. That chassis incorporates fully independent double-wishbone front and rear-multilink rear suspensions, both slightly upgraded for the taller, heavier Crosstour. Notable among those upgrades are rebound springs inside the front shocks to improve handling and reduce body roll, two-piston front brake calipers and bigger rear rotors.

The only available powertrain is the Accord’s 271-hp 3.5-liter i-VTEC SOHC V-6 coupled to a five-speed automatic transmission. This award-winning engine uses Honda’s exclusive Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) cylinder deactivation system to enhance fuel economy by shutting down two, or at times even three, cylinders when it’s lightly loaded. The electronically controlled 5-speed automatic is smooth but slightly less fuel-efficient than the latest 6-speeds offered by GM, Ford and others. The 2WD Crosstour is EPA-rated at a respectable 18 city/27 highway mpg and the 4WD EX-L at 17/25.

The two interior color choices are charcoal black with a black instrument panel or ivory with a two-tone (black upper, tan lower) instrument panel, both with tasteful faux wood accents. To quiet the cabin, a new Active Sound Control (ASC) technology uses the audio system to acoustically minimize engine noise. There is 25.7 cu. ft. of cargo room behind the 60/40 rear seats; and, folding them down increases the area to 54 cu. ft. Access to it is easy thanks to a large tailgate opening and a low lift-over height. Three other handy features are twin levers that quickly fold those seats flat into the floor, carpeted lids that flip over to create easy-to-clean plastic surfaces and a hidden 1.9-liter storage box with handles for easy removal.

If you’ve driven an Accord sedan, you’ll feel right at home in a Crosstour. Honda engineers have compensated well—via specific spring rates, shocks and stabilizer bars—for its modestly increased size and the potential of added cargo weight. Unladen, it rides and handles about as well as the somewhat agile yet compliant sedan. Its brakes are suitably strong and fade-free, but its constant-ratio steering is somewhat slower at low speeds compared to the sedan’s variable-ratio system.

With six inches of ground clearance, this is no off-road crawler, but the available fully automatic Real Time 4WD system improves its bad-weather and off-pavement capabilities by sending power to the rear wheels when the fronts begin to slip. The 5-speed automatic can be manually shifted, and its new downshift rev-match feature smooths manual downshifts.

Standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist. The comprehensive restraint system includes dual-stage, multiple threshold front airbags; driver’s and front passenger’s side airbags with a passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor; and active front seat head restraints.

This new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour slides neatly between Honda’s Civic-based CR-V compact crossover and its larger, more truck-like (Accord-based) Pilot CUV and competes directly with Toyota’s similar Camry based Venza and Nissan’s Altima-based Murano. Call it what you want but seriously is a very interesting new entry in the increasingly crowded crossover field.

The Latest in Hybrid Cars   by Hung Hancock

Car owners and drivers around the world are almost always in dilemma when buying cars nowadays. You might probably be asking why. The answer is too simple and astonishing. It is because there are a number of car models and cart types available in the market today.

And merely knowing their physical and functional attributes would certainly make one long and want to take them all home.

For quite some time, people’s palate on cars have remained simple. During the past few decades, car owners were generally almost unmindful about the aesthetic values of their cars. For them, what mattered was the function and usability of their cars.

But because the car industry has been growing at rapid and amazing proportions, industry players also sprouted and proliferated at fast rates.

Thus, when the German, United States and Japanese car manufacturing giants began the tight race to dominate the global market for cars, all the aspects of the car were given profound and much focus.

Those car makers began their respective strategic attacks by overhauling the modern car design. Later on, physicists justified the measures, saying the latest car designs were somehow helping to ease and maintain speed and son on, the technicalities of which will have to be discussed separately.

Hybrid cars

Because the traditional cars posed problems and concerns over environmental impact and gasoline consumption, the emergence of hybrid cars went on.

Hybrid cars were actually a spin off or an integrated version of the electric and the traditional gas-powered cars. The electric vehicles were the first of car makers’ attempt to resolve the rising need to cut gasoline consumption of cars.

Because gasoline prices are ever so volatile during the current times, car manufacturers aimed to lure more customers and boost sales by developing cars that would trim if not totally eliminate gasoline consumption, with certain and realizable hopes that the efforts would be create a widespread and ‘hot-cake’ patronage.

The electric cars failed on its part because the setbacks from operating the cars are far greater than the functionality and usability. But the hybrid vehicles were made to save the day.

The hybrid vehicles were created in such a way that the outstanding features and functions of the traditional gas powered vehicles were integrated and made complementary with those anchored by electric vehicles.

Efficiency

The new hybrid vehicles were made extraordinarily efficient that gasoline consumption of cars were really cut down and trimmed while maintaining the same speed and mileage capacity.

Experts say hybrid cars are also made more efficient because of several factors, including more efficient and smaller engines, regenerative braking features, periodic shutting off of the engine, advanced aerodynamics characteristics, tires that are low-rolling resistant and the lightweight materials used in the assembly of such cars.

New hybrid cars models

In North America alone, the market for new hybrid cars are rapidly and greatly expanding. It is because economists say that the inhabitants of the region tend to be more conscious about the impact of higher oil prices to the overall economy and to each of the citizens.

Thus, although hybrid cars are naturally and logically more expensive compared to the traditional counterparts, sales of such cars are ever so rising and accelerating in the region.

In fact, car industry lobbyists and sales people, reiterate and state the significant and robust car sales and revenue generated by companies from the sale of the following new hybrid car models:

- Mercury Mariner - Toyota Highlander Hybrid - Lexus 400h hybrid - Ford Escape hybrid - Toyota Prius - Honda Insight - Honda Accord hybrid - Honda Civic hybrid

Consumers in the region are ever so thankful that car manufacturers have answered the calls for the development and launch of new hybrid cars, which would significantly help reduce gasoline costs and pollution impact to the atmosphere.

There are many new hybrid car models that are on the offing and ready for launch. But car makers are surely waiting for the perfect timing, to ensure profitability and warmer consumer reception and patronage.

Years from now, your problem will be, what new hybrid car model to purchase. Take that word.

Honda Accord Head Lights
by louie liu

A vehicle is among those complicated machines in this world considering their systems and sub-systems. They are typically composed of many different parts that must complement with each other in order for it to give off the performance and functions expected from it. There are many parts and features involve in order for a vehicle to function as well as there are lots of things to consider; safety, performance and comforts. For your vehicle’s safety features, lights and lights assembly are always included; you can’t drive or maneuver a vehicle completely without lights, especially headlights. That’s why these are among the standard parts of a vehicle and there are still lots of enhancements available. For such matter, you can typically find headlights in different types and kinds; and if you have ACCORD vehicles, there are many options for it like ACCORD projector headlights. Headlights are considered as among the vital things in a vehicle’s operation especially in keeping you safe when driving at night or dark places. Your vehicle’s headlights are among those outside lights that guides you through your cruising. Defined as the light mounted on the front of the car, headlights are parts that light the road ahead of you. Usually, headlights have reflectors and special lenses; they are mostly of sealed beam types. There are lots of types and kinds of headlights available; automatic, parabolic, halogen, projector, etc. Projector headlights are type of headlights which produces stronger beam than parabolic headlights. These lights are intended to light a more focused area and lee scatter loss. It works specifically like a slide projector as it name implies. Projector headlights are mostly considered as performance replacement headlights since it can enhance the lighting condition of your vehicle. Like most headlights, projector types are available whether as OEM, aftermarket, factory original or used. If you want to give your ACCORD vehicle a lasting life as well as enhanced styles, you can add accessories like headlight covers, protector and mask. There are several online stores selling ACCORD projector headlights. Make sure that before you purchase any projector headlights from any auto parts online store, you first verify or research if the store is reliable or not. You can do this by calling Consumers Advocates and inquire about any reported misconducts or violation about the store or company you want to deal with. Consumers Advocates should be able to tell you which companies to be trusted and which companies should be avoided. At Ilovebodykits.com, you can find many projector headlights with different options to choose, there is black housing projector headlights, chrome housing projector headlights, dual halo projector headlights, single halo projector headlights, blue lens projector head lights, clear lens projector headlights. Black housing projector headlights have became more popular in the market because the factory headlights are usually made with chrome housing and you can see immediately see the difference in the appearance after the installation.Due to the safety regulation from Department Of Transportations (DOT), all head lights, and projector headlights are required to have amber corner lens and the ones are without it will not be street legal and it should only be equipped as “off road use only”. At ilovebodykits.com, they understand their customer’s need and they are here to help you to enjoy fixing up your everyday ride and remind their customers that safety condition of their vehicle should always be the number 1 consideration.

Will Hydrogen Cars Replace Hybrid Cars? :New honda cars 2009 review

Will Hydrogen Cars Replace Hybrid Cars?
by Wendy Gorman

Wouldn’t you just know it, just as the Hybrid Car begins to make its presence felt as the saviour of tomorrows motorist (and the world) along comes another young pretender to the throne - The hydrogen fuelled car. Some people say that hydrogen cars will have pure refeshment water on tap. We shall see, in theory it could happen with a Hydrogen Car but they are way behind the Hybrid Car in their development program and forecasting is impossible. Hydrogen cars do however, have the potential to be better cars than Hybrid Cars in several ways so we need to compare their known characteristics.
Hydrogen cars use a chemical reaction rather than a burning process for motive power
Conventional cars burn fossil fuel and Hybrid Cars use smaller amounts of the same fuel to charge their batteries. Hydrogen Cars do not use fossil fuel at all. Instead Hydrogen Cars depend upon a chemical reaction between Hydrogen and Oxygen that produces a lot of energy plus pure water residue - a completely pollution free process. Hence the earlier reference to water on tap in Hydrogen cars. It is not possible for Hybrid Cars to achieve the same thing without breaking the Laws of Chemistry.
The reaction process in Hydrogen Cars produces up to three times the energy output from the equivalent gasoline based process in conventional and hybrid cars.
Hydrogen fuel burns both hotter and faster than fossil based fuel and is therefore much more efficient. In theory therefore it should be possible to design Hydrogen Cars that canreach incredible speeds with as yet unrealised acceleration compared to Hybrid Cars. There is simply no way that Hybid Cars, dependent as they are (in all their forms) on battery power, will be able to compete on this level.
The question arises “Is the hydrogen car concept for real?
Many people believe that Hybrid Cars reflect reality much more than Hydrogen Cars do. Hybrid Cars exist on our roads now and have already cut pollution emmissions by some 30% to 50%. Why then do we need to indulge in a possible flight of fancy such as the Hydrogen Car by investing vast sums of money to try to achieve the impossible?
The Hydrogen used in Hydrogen Cars is defined as a fuel carrier. It is not considered to be a fuel source in itself.
Indeed, it is hoped by some proponents of this type of fuel process, that in the future it will be possible to produce hydrogen with the use of such sources as wind power and other renewable energy sources. That means that hydrogen has to be produced from other sources. And people are hoping that hydrogen will be able to be produced from things such as wind power or other types of renewable sources. Right now, it looks like all we have is natural gas. That is the most efficient way to get hydrogen. And if that’s the case, then there’s no need to make hydrogen cars. Hybrid cars already cut down on how much gas people use. Who needs hydrogen cars that may end up costing us more in natural gas?
It will be hard create a lot of stations to fuel hydrogen cars
People are saying there is an overwhelming amount of challenges when it comes to creating the multitudes of hydrogen fueling stations that would be needed if millions of people suddenly started owning hydrogen cars. Hybrid cars use gas. And we already have gas stations.
But president Bush has made it clear that he wants hydrogen cars to be on the roads in significant numbers by the year 2020. So it seems that those who oppose hydrogen cars might just have to hold their breath and see if hydrogen cars actually live up to the lofty promises people associate with them. If they don’t live up to their promises, people will probably start running back to hybrid cars in droves. And that’s not too bad. Hybrid cars or hydrogen cars, one of them is going to get us to cleaner air.

Hydrogen, hydrogen generators, hho, gas savers - The Definitive Facts : New civic 2009 new model review

Hydrogen, hydrogen generators, hho, gas savers - The Definitive Facts
by Denys Allard
The purpose of this article is to dispel the myths, misinformation, and confusion induced largely by members of the media and others who are not too knowledgeable in this field. Part of the problem is that; the onslaught of “Run Your Car on Water” ads all over the internet is misleading. Although this is possible, these ads are referring to electrolyzers/hydrogen boosters which is a fuel saving device. “Supplemental hydrogen” would be a more accurate term. Unfortunately, there are some bogus companies out there but this device is real and it does work. There are many credible sources for information on this; The National Hydrogen Association, the EPA, and the U.S. Dept. of Energy (just to name a few). An electrolyzer/hydrogen booster generates hydrogen and oxygen (hho/Brown’s gas) and should not be confused with hydrogen fuel cells which produces electricity and can be used to power an electric car.The authors of these build-your-own plans all over the internet (in many cases) are not very knowledgeable. There are many factors to consider and the efficiency of the product (and whether or not it works) is going to depend on it. Also, the tools & materials needed to build something, with some quality, can be costly. I have read several articles from supposedly authoritative, professional, intelligent people who were claiming that these devices don’t work. After reviewing their test procedures, it came as no surprise to me that they got negative results. Unless you really know what you are doing, you’re better off buying a pre-made product from a reputable manufacturer with a guarantee. The electrolysis (disassociation of water) process occurs when you apply about 2 volts to water but the device simply does not produce enough hydrogen to run a vehicle on it’s own but can increase mileage significantly and, with gas prices nowadays, is a big plus. Adding an electrolyte to the water (such as potassium hydroxide) does increase hydrogen production but also increases amperage and generates heat as a result. Also, pulsed dc. is actually more efficient than straight dc. from your car’s battery.A device called an EFIE (electronic fuel injection enhancer) should also be used as this compensates for the added oxygen in your intake. Your oxygen sensors monitors and sends a small voltage to your car’s computer telling it whether your a/f ratio is too rich or too lean. The EFIE sends a floating voltage on top of this telling your car’s computer that your a/f ratio is too rich and subsequently cuts back on the gas to your fuel injector.Hydrogen has a lower ignition rate than gasoline which means that it ignites at a lower temperature so it is quite easy to burn hydrogen in a combustion engine. However, hydrogen also has a lower density rate than gasoline which means that it takes a lot of it to run a vehicle. Running a vehicle without gasoline (such as what Stan Meyer did) involves changing the state of the hydrogen to a higher energy state because of its low density. This involves some physics which I will not get into here.Article Summary: Whether you call them electrolyzers or hydrogen boosters, the bottom line is that these devices do work and improving mileage is a step in the right direction. There are several benefits to burning supplemental hydrogen; it burns cleaner than gasoline alone and helps clean carbon deposits out of your engine. The result is more horsepower, fewer emissions, and obviously, spending less money on gas and LESS DEMAND = LOWER PRICES at the pump. I, personally, have had an electrolyzer in my car for the last 18 months and have been very pleased with the results.
